From the Principal

Welcome to Richard King High School!

Home of the Mighty Mustangs...where our motto is "To the Stars through Knowledge!"

Spring has sprung and the staff and students are abuzz with energy!  As with every year, the second semester brings excitement and anticipation as we look forward to our academic challenges, spring sports, UIL academic and fine arts activities, and the inevitable state standardized testing!

For the next few weeks, our counselors will be meeting with our freshmen, sophomores and juniors for course selection for the next school year.  We ask that you speak with your child as he/she makes important decisions regarding his/her academic plans for the 2010-2011 school year.

Attendance and academic success go hand in hand.  Please access the EChalk website to check your child's daily attendance.  If you have questions regarding attendance issues, please contact your child's assistant principal.  Each assistant principal is responsible for a designated portion of the alphabet according to last name.

This school year, we are working closely with our vertical learning community.  This community includes the elementary and middle schools that feed into King High School.  We have meetings regularly as we dialogue and share best research-based teaching practices.  We have all committed to the use of interactive Notebooks.  Students at King High School will be utilizing this tool in Algebra I class.

We, as a King community, have much to be proud of, as indicated by our academic, fine arts and athletic successes;  however, we are poised to reach greater heights!  We believe in a partnership between school and home to promote the overall success of each student.  We encourage parents to call or visit King as often as possible.

As we strive to provide a safe, caring, and nurturing environment, we ask students, staff, parents and the community to join together to ensure that Richard King High School remains the best school in town!

KING IS KING!

Go Mustangs!
